Write your own
Type or paste a story and give it a title. It could be a bedtime tale you made up, a family adventure, or a grandparent’s story in your own words. This path skips AI story generation.
How to create a story for your child
- Choose your characters. Add your child, siblings, mother, father, Dada, Dadi, Nana, Nani, other relatives or another character. Use names or nicknames; you do not need to create accounts for the characters.
- Pick a theme. Choose bedtime, kindness, courage, friendship, family or adventure, or describe your own idea.
- Make it a good fit. Choose English or Hindi, an age band of 3–5, 6–8 or 9–12, and a short, medium or long draft.
- Read and review. Edit the title and words, check that the story suits your child, then confirm it is ready. AI drafts can make mistakes, so your review matters.
- Save to Read with Shiku. Open it from your private family bookshelf. Listen in short sections, pause, replay and continue together. You can edit or delete a saved story later.

Before your first story
Can we create a story in Hindi?
Yes. Choose हिन्दी in the story language setting. You can also type or paste your own Hindi story. The creator’s controls currently use English labels.
Will our family story be public?
Saved stories are private to your signed-in parent account until you choose Publish / manage on a saved story, review the public preview and confirm sharing. Published stories appear in the community library, where other families can read and like them. Your email, child profiles and family-member list are not published; names written in the story are visible. You can unpublish from Your shared stories at any time. Use nicknames and leave out contact details. Creating an AI draft sends the chosen names and theme to our AI service. Asking for a title suggestion or publishing sends the story text for automated review; listening sends the story text to our voice service, with a device voice fallback. Can we listen without creating a story?
Yes. Browse Kiddora’s English stories and Hindi stories and poems, then open one in Read with Shiku. Public stories do not require a parent account. Daily limits apply to AI story creation.
